Find your perfect SDA Housing match

The NDIS will assess your eligibility for SDA against their criteria and will start with asking the following questions:

• Do you have an extreme functional impairment or very high support needs?
• Do you have a specialist disability accommodation needs requirement?
• Does specialist disability accommodation meet the NDIS funding criteria for you?

They may also ask for additional supporting evidence such as reports. An Occupational Therapist can complete a SDA Functional Assessment and report for you.

1. A goal that relates to exploring your accommodation needs. If you do not have an accommodation goal, you can complete a Home and Living Supports request form or request a Change of Circumstances to review your goals.
2. 20 hours of capacity building funding, for an Occupational Therapist to complete an SDA Functional Assessment and report
3. Funding for a Support Coordinator, who will assist you to explore your accommodation options, write a housing report, and coordinate your SDA application to NDIS.

This could involve connecting with a Support Coordinator to refine your plan, ensuring your goals are aligned, or putting you in touch with an occupational therapist to discuss a SDA Functional Assessment. You don’t have to have a Support Coordinator however, having one can be beneficial in navigating the complexities of the NDIS and ensuring that your plan meets with your goals and needs.

You will require a SDA Functional Assessment if you don’t already have SDA Funding.

An Occupational Therapist will work with you to collect relevant information about your level of function, your support needs, and your accommodation preferences. After, they’ll write a report that summarises your current situation and details how you may meet the NDIS eligibility criteria for SDA housing.
